Mallory and Meredith finished eating before everyone else and found that Mallory's magnetic bracelet stuck to the metal walls at Pizza Ranch.

Analysis and Notes on Walden -- Henry Thoreau's Text with Adjacent Thoreauvian Commentary

Perhaps because of this, Walden tends to be treated as either a whimsical, idiosyncratic literary text (that is, a purely personal account with difficult language) or as a journal full of Nature writings for those who love to read about little furry animals. But it really is neither. The purpose of Walden is to argue for, explain, and demonstrate Thoreau’s philosophy of life, a philosophy that is practical and poetic, personal and universal. Thoreau developed his own sense of economics, an understanding that differs greatly from that of Karl Marx (communism) or that of Adam Smith (capitalism), an understanding that can free an individual from a life of toil and worry. But in addition, he developed a purpose for life, something that the communists and capitalists overlooked, a purpose more important than economics. Rather than seeing the acquisition of wealth as the goal for human existence, Thoreau saw the goal of life to be an exploration of the mind and of the magnificent world around us.

Wow. Who knew?  I'm going to try and reread Walden.

Like a pro!
Casting backhand, like a pro. There was some brush and tall grass that would have interfered with an overhand cast.

Marked - The Markdown Ninja's New Best Friend

Marked – The Next Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

I downloaded an app from the App store based on several other’s recommendation, MinimalMac, David Sparks called Marked iTunes link which according to the description:

…will open MultiMarkdown, Markdown, Text or HTML files and previews them as HTML documents. It watches the file for changes, updating the preview any time the file is saved. With a full set of preview styles, Marked adds an ideal “live” Markdown preview to any text editor. Plus… copy HTML with a keystroke, save to PDF or Print, or export to HTML in seconds.

There is so much awesomeness here it is hard to describe. I’m writing this using TextEdit (the free text editor that comes with every Mac), next to the window where I’m typing I have the same file open in Marked. Every time I hit save the file updates in the Marked preview window. Now I don’t have to have a special editor or use NValt (coded by the same Brett Terpstra that coded Marked). I just use TextEdit and mark it up using Markdown, save the file and open it in Marked.

It’s just way to easy now.

If you have a Mac, you need this little bit of goodness.
